The Story of Bottled Water (2010)

http://storyofbottledwater.org

The Story of Bottled Water, released on March 22, 2010 (World Water Day) employs the Story of Stuff style to tell the story of manufactured demand—how you get Americans to buy more than half a billion bottles of water every week when it already flows from the tap. Over five minutes, the film explores the bottled water industrys attacks on tap water and its use of seductive, environmental-themed advertising to cover up the mountains of plastic waste it produces. The film concludes with a call to take back the tap, not only by making a personal commitment to avoid bottled water, but by supporting investments in clean, available tap water for all.

Our production partners on the bottled water film include five leading sustainability groups: Corporate Accountability International, Environmental Working Group, Food & Water Watch, Pacific Institute, and Polaris Institute.

Yup yup… You should just filter your tapwater yourself rather than buy it in a bottle… and please do!
Yes, bottled water is bad ‘cuz of the b o t t l e and it’s bad for Earth, but unfiltered tapwater with fluoride and chlorine isn’t any better. It’s bad for You!

Ironically, this video is using the very ‘manufactured demand’ strategy they mention in their video. To manufacture demand for Marxism.

@ElProximo If you really think that then you are obviously selfish and don’t care about others. Yes that’s right you’re a psychopath.

@mikeyo1234 That does not follow. Why would opposing a Marxist propaganda *therefore* have me ‘not caring about others’ or being ‘obviously selfish’. I oppose Marxism because I am convinced it hurts the most amount of people in the worst ways, you self-righteous hypocrite.

@MrKlausbaudelaire My tap water in Orlando is just fine. I have a Brita filter and 3 reusable water bottles that get plenty of use. I haven’t bought bottled in years!

Buy one of these pitcher water filters, Britta makes one, and the tap water tastes better. If you are lucky enough to live in NYC, you have some of the best tap water in the world, don’t bother filtering it.

Too bad tap water has an acidic pH, which causes a plethora of health issues.
